And I don't mean mediocre!  Last night there was a flurry of spinning at the Clark County Fair - inside and out.

Ann is spinning on a new wheel called Mach 1 by SpinOlution.  In the artsy close up you can see it doesn't have an orafice, but rather a hook (you can see the glint anyway).  In the picture the fiber is twisted around a peg to prevent unspinning during a break.  Plastic covered pegs replace hooks that are usually found on other wheels.  I have seen other pics and read about it, but I was surprised at the size (as were Nathan and Ashley).

If you have a chance to stop by or join the spinning, we'll be at the fair all week!

Last evening several folks gathered at Grinny Possum for fiber fun.  It was our usual Jewel's House of Teas night, but Julie and fam are on vacation so Ann was gracious to have us over!

Among the highlights were some new Ravelry friends - and teaching one to spindle spin some DElicIouS fiber her husband gave her.  Come to think of it, a lot of spinning (of various fibers) was going on including using reclaimed yarn to discuss making coils.

The pinnacle of the night was winding, starting over  and re-winding - oh, starting over and rewinding again - Kathleen's lovely skein of brown, white with purple and blue wool 2 ply that weighs 17 ounces.  Yes, folks, 1 pound 1 ounce.  Honkin' yarn ball.  Don't you wish I had my camera?  Me too!  Hopefully Kathleen can get a picture for us before she starts a project ;)  Did I mention that there were 4 of us with hands on it for awhile, plus another 2 bystanders helping supervise?

Fun at the Possum, always ;)

AND in OTHER NEWS:

Next week, July 14 - 18, Fiber eXchange Guild and Grinny Possum will be sharing a booth at the Clark County Fair.  On Tuesday evening specifically we will be demonstrating spinning.  If you are going to the fair, stop by and see us!  If you have some time available and want to help out, email me at fiberexchangeguild@yahoo.com to let me know when you are available.  Booths are only open in the evenings.

And for those of you wondering, the parade in Charlestown was wonderful, but again, alas, no photos.  If we manage to find some, I'll be sure to share them ;)

Always more to spin later ...
