Another lovely evening spent with fibery friends and tea.  We had a small but lively gathering with wheel spinning, sock knitting, more knitting and even some lessons going on ;)

Most important for here is the PARADE PLANS!  One June 28 Fiber eXchange Guild and Grinny Possum are co-sponsoring a float in the Charlestown Bicentennial Celebration Parade.  You guessed it, flatbed with spinners, knitter, crocheters, and other fiber folk.  If you would like to join us, send me an email (fiberexchangeguild@yahoo.com) or contact through the website (www.SouthernIndianaFiberArts.com).  We need a people number soon, so let me know today!  Or when you read this ;)

ForeverEmily (on ravelry) brought a new amazing felted bag to show off.  I wish I had remembered my camera!  When I say "felted bag" I feel I am not doing them justice.  She does amazing things with felted wool.  Just wait, you'll see.  If you are on ravelry, she has her first one pictured in her projects - go look ;)

Julie (as in Jewel, as in "House of Teas) was feeling the publicity love.  She made me a car magnet to advertise her shop.  I know, "how generous" with proper snide tone, but it has my girlie from years past.  We did a photo shoot of a tea party around her 2nd birthday ... magnet advert

so, yes, i will have one on my van ;)  But there were also t-shirts for Sharon and Ann!  I know, this would be more dramatic with more photos ... sorry ;)

A banner from the Grinny Possum marked the spot to meet at the first annual Great Steamboat Race Spin-In!  Yes folks, mark your calendar for next year.  What lovely weather for an outdoor spin-in!spin-in steamboat race

We were early - other folks did show up ...   more spinin

A smattering of fiber crafters sharing ideas,   stories and making plans for other gatherings.  Quite a few of us from the online community at Ravelry.com met up for the first time.  You recognize the conversations with sentences that go something like, "My ravatar is a knit chicken with red hair" and "My screen name is _____." or "I am SO changing my ravatar!"

I think the day's total was 7 wheels, 3 drop spindles and 3 knitters.  But it seemed there were more of us than that, ah well.

Oh, and there were steamboats ;)

Greetings All!

Apologies for starting this blog then seemingly abandoning, but I have had tech issues that prevent posting, argh.

On to more fun topics: The Fiber Event at Greencastle was a hoot.  No accumulation of snow, so you know it had to be good ;)

fXg sign Fiber eXchange Guild was represented by Alternate Universe / Sharon Richie, B & G Farm / Kathleen Goble and follow the star studio / me (victoria smith).  We sold some things, passed out A LOT of flyers and courted a few new vendors.  Many other members were there with thier own booths, including, Fuzzarelly, Blue Acorn Woolens, Big Spings Farm and Fiber, Buerer's Farm and others I will recall later ;)

A highlight of this event that seems to kick off the festival season for the region is visiting with folks you haven't seen all winter, OH, and showing off some fine handmade attire ;)

 fuzzarelly's shawl

Handspun and handdyed angora from Fuzzarelly's bunnies plied with silk and knit by, you guessed it, Fuzzarelly ;) PLEASE tell me you see the knitting needles and knit flowers in Fuzzarelly's hair!

kathleen's vest

Kathleen's Shetland Vest woven by Donna Jo Copeland from locks of one of Kathleen's sheep.

dollie bubbles hat

My Dollie Bubbles Hat knit by me from gray  handspun I was gifted by primdollie on Ravelry and my own "bubbles" handspun wool with beads.

Yes, it did rain (and sleet a bit) on day 2, but most have come to expect that of spring events in the midwest ;)

Share your favorite Greencastle story - this or any year!

The first Saturday gathering at AlterKnit Universe was marked with drum carding, fleece skirting and lots of chatting.  Not to mention knitting and a loverly alpaca purchase ;)

Now that we have this blog I can show off Sharon's cd sign  - that won't all fit in one photo! ;)AlterKnit
